Welcome to Stefania and Vittorio's at PoggioBa, a B&B nestled in the unspoiled countryside of the Upper Maremma, a stone's throw from Sovana, Sorano and Pitigliano, half an hour from the Cascatelle di Saturnia waterfalls, in the heart of the Archaeological Park of the Tuff Cities. We are waiting to offer you the simplicity of nature and the luxury of the ancient, combined with a spontaneous welcome that will make you feel at home.
PoggioBa is an ancient tower house that rises above a hillock nestled in the countryside, with breathtaking views of woods, olive groves and vineyards. The farmhouse seems to rise out of the tuff and is built on earlier Iron Age and Etruscan settlements, traces of which remain evident in the surrounding land. It has been restored following the criteria of green building using period materials; it has wooden beams, old terracotta floors and is furnished with antiques.
Our b&b is located in the countryside between Sovana (3 Km), Sorano (8 Km) and Pitigliano (7 Km). Getting there is easy by following the signs near the farmhouse.

I am from Livorno and moved to the area in '83. A former antiquarian and restorer, I divide my time between PoggioBa and our wine shop Vino al vino. I love to cook and tend the garden: lavenders, roses, peonies manage to cheer me up at every opportunity.
Roman by origin, computer scientist, photography enthusiast, amateur astrophile, I landed in the area in '93 by renting a small apartment where I would take refuge on weekends. In 2001 I moved there permanently.
I am the cuddle of the house, by all accounts the best dog in the world. When I first see you by contract I have to bark at you a little before wagging my tail, but when you come back I will recognize you already by the sound of the engine.
Our wine shop in Sovana where we look forward to introducing you to the delights of the area, wide selections of wines, craft beers, meats and cheeses, hot dishes-our choice is quality.
From the creative collaboration with our eclectic friend and artist Luigi Radici, PoggioB'art was born, a proposal that involves artists, specifically sculptors, who by creating one of their works on site or by installing it on the basis of a previously executed work, participate in the creation of a Sculpture Park, a Garden of Art.
What could be better than soaking in a wood-heated outdoor hot tub filled with bubbles while admiring the colors of color therapy?
Walking barefoot on different and uneven materials such as river stones, pine bark, and bamboo canes stimulates the reflex zones of the foot, a novel and pleasant experience that awakens the senses and invigorates the spirit.
The term permaculture comes from permanent agriculture, meaning building a culture based on environmental sustainability and ethical principles for land use. Our vegetables are served at our wine shop in Sovana Wine to Wine
In 2003, after a brief but intense restoration, we finally succeeded in realizing our dream of moving to PoggioBa. Always sensitive to the environment, in the restoration we have applied as much as possible the dictates of bio-building and eco-sustainability: from bio-lime, to ventilated roof, to helio-thermal heating. We have always been hospitable, even before we made it a profession, and perhaps we have managed to keep intact that pleasure of hosting and the desire to make our guests feel at home.
For the Etruscans, the Sovana area was an important center, as evidenced by the many artifacts found in the area. Even walking around the farmhouse one can see clear traces of this.
